94 Points – Decanter: This classy wine from the leading Bourgueil estate is dense, bright and glossy in the glass. The nose is intensely violet-scented, with smouldering toasty oak in the background. This is a young, tight wine at present, but the excellent fruit concentration tells you this wine has much to give. The palate is already silky, with lovely freshness and balance. The fruit is spicy and blackcurranty, with a dark, bitter chocolate finish. there is delicious ripeness here, and at only 13% nothing is overdone. It’s delicious now, but it would be best to wait a year or two before opening this.
