In 1890, Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa, a young adventurer from Genoa, Italy, found the perfect setting for the Flor de Caña distillery at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano, the tallest and most active volcano in Nicaragua. The fertility of its surrounding lands, the enriched water and the hot volcanic climate proved to be instrumental in forging the rum’s unique and smooth flavor. Through its 130-year history, the brand, the company and the family have lived through a plane crash, a civil war, nationalizations, hyperinflation, fires, hurricanes, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Throughout all this, and against all odds, the company has also been able to remain a family business for five generations: Only 3 in 10,000 family businesses make it to the 5th generation!

Flor de Cana 18 Year Old Centenario is an ultra-premium full-bodied rum with no added sugar. This amber colored rum has exquisite aromas of nuts and caramel with flavors of rich vanilla and spices, and a long, extremely-smooth finish. Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks, with a peel of orange. Flor de Caña rums are naturally aged in small white oak bourbon barrels sealed with plantain leaves, creating a unique rum with tropical notes. The fertility of its soil, the volcanic climate to which the barrels are exposed during the aging process and the enriched volcanic water contribute in creating a singularly smooth and rum with rich flavor.
