Domaine Notes: The Combes Aux Moines vineyard, situated on the mid-slope of the southern part of Gevrey-Chambertin, benefits from an exceptional terroir composed of Comblanchien limestone and Bathonian marl. This historic parcel of the estate, with vines aged 60-80 years, produces a remarkably elegant wine that has garnered international acclaim—notably served at the Reagan-Mitterrand state dinner in 1984. Traditional winemaking and extended aging in oak barrels reveal a “royal viscosity” characteristic of this vineyard. The wine expresses complex aromas of wild red berries, violet, chalky minerality, and sweet spices. Its exceptionally silky texture and persistent finish make it one of the most sought-after Premier Crus of the appellation.
