2021 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, Comte de Vogue

96 Points – James Suckling: Plenty of red fruit character here, plus notes of wet earth, blood orange and violets. Excellent concentration for 2022 with beautifully integrated fine tannins, the fresh acidity helping to drive the long, delicately earthy finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

95 Points – John Gilman: The 2021 Bonnes-Mares from Domaine Comte de Vogüé shows a lovely influence from its whole clusters, taking the wine to another level of youthful complexity on both the nose and palate. The nose delivers scents of plums, red and black cherries, gamebird, woodsmoke, a gorgeous base of dark soil tones, sweet stem tones and cedary oak. The domaine’s fine parcel of Bonnes-Mares lies in the northeastern corner of the vineyard, which is entirely on terres rouges soils and this unique expression of Bonnes-Mares terroir really shines through in 2021. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full-bodied, with again, truly superb soil signature, ripe, buried tannins and a long, poised and complex finish of impeccable balance.
