It’s considered a benchmark Islay whisky, famous (and sometimes infamous) for its distinctive medicinal peat smoke, maritime notes, and surprising underlying sweetness.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Immediately assertive with powerful peat smoke – reminiscent of iodine, TCP (antiseptic), seaweed, and smoky bonfires. Hints of vanilla, malt sweetness, and a touch of brine emerge beneath the smoke.
• Palate: Full-bodied and intense. Waves of medicinal peat smoke, tar, and seaweed dominate, yet balanced by a distinct malty sweetness and notes of vanilla. A pronounced saltiness and perhaps a hint of black pepper develop.
• Finish: Long, warming, and deeply smoky. Lingering flavors of medicinal peat, iodine, seaweed, salt, and a touch of oak spice remain, leaving a quintessential Laphroaig impression.
